About frank Porcos

Smiling man in glasses and suit with a blue tie and Democratic pin.

Mayor

Frank Porco is a lifelong resident of Forest Hills, Pennsylvania, whose life has been defined by a deep commitment to public service, community engagement, and Democratic values. Over the course of more than 26 years in elected office, Frank has earned a reputation as a collaborative leader, grassroots organizer, and tireless advocate for working families and local communities.

Frank served the residents of Forest Hills for 16 years as a Borough Council member from 1998 through 2014, including serving as President of Council from 2008 to 2012. Since 2015, he has proudly served as Mayor of Forest Hills, where his leadership has focused on transparency, innovation, sustainability, public safety, and strengthening community connections, and ensuring Forest Hills remains a welcoming and inclusive community for all residents.

In recognition of his decades of service and leadership, Frank was honored by the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association as Pennsylvania Mayor of the Year.

A 1995 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Business and English Writing, Frank was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. Professionally, he serves as Regional Vice President of Denovo Ventures LLC, balancing a successful professional career with a lifelong dedication to civic engagement and public service.

Throughout his time in office, Frank has championed initiatives that have brought national and statewide recognition to Forest Hills, including the development of one of Pennsylvania’s first net-zero energy municipal complexes, implementation of innovative environmental initiatives, adoption of hybrid and electric police vehicles, and early deployment of body-worn cameras for police officers.

Frank has also worked tirelessly to strengthen the fabric of the Forest Hills community through public events and service initiatives that bring residents together. He has led and organized numerous community traditions including annual Memorial Day ceremonies, Arbor Day celebrations, summer concerts, movie nights in the park, the “Light Up the Hills” holiday celebration, and the community Halloween Hayride.

Beyond his municipal service, Frank has dedicated more than sixteen years to the Forest Hills Democratic Committee, serving as Treasurer, Vice Chair, and Chair of the committee. In those roles, he helped build grassroots Democratic infrastructure at the local level while supporting Democratic candidates and causes throughout Allegheny County and Pennsylvania.

Frank has worked closely with Democratic caucuses and elected officials at the County, State, and Federal levels to bring town halls and public forums directly into the Forest Hills community. These events connected residents with legislators and provided constituents with opportunities to learn about legislative priorities, ask questions, and discuss the kitchen-table issues impacting working families, seniors, and middle-class communities. Frank believes strongly that effective leadership begins with listening and that elected officials must remain accessible and accountable to the people they serve.

Frank has worked tirelessly on behalf of Democratic candidates at every level of government who shared a commitment to public service, strengthening communities, and improving the lives of working families. Throughout his years in public service and party leadership, he has worked closely with a broad coalition of Democratic leaders and activists within his own community and across Allegheny County in service of his constituents and the greater good. Frank firmly believes the Democratic Party is strongest when it embraces dialogue, collaboration, mutual respect, and unity around the shared values that bring Democrats together — supporting working families, expanding economic opportunity, strengthening organized labor, promoting food security, investing in communities, and ensuring everyone has a seat at the table.

Frank’s commitment to service extends far beyond government and politics. He has served in leadership roles with numerous civic, educational, religious, and charitable organizations, including the Forest Hills Rotary, the St. Maurice Church Pastoral Council, the As I Am Ministry – which is LGBTQ+ ministry of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, youth athletic organizations, and international charitable initiatives that helped raise more than $150,000 to build a church in Ghana.

Frank and his wife Mary have been married for 26 years and, along with their children, remain actively involved in community service and civic life.

Frank Porco’s leadership philosophy is simple: communities become stronger when people come together in service to one another. Whether through local government, grassroots organizing, or volunteer service, Frank has dedicated his life to leaving his community—and the Democratic Party—stronger than he found it.
